The focus of the DePauw Percussion Ensemble’s Spring 2017 Concert will be on turn-of-the-21st-century percussion music. Among the innovative works selected for the program are Ritual Music by David Skidmore, a powerful mixed drum and marimba overture; Interior Design by N. Scott Robinson for frame drum ensemble; Sculpture 3 by Rüdiger Pawassar, a jazz-influenced marimba trio; Shaken, Not Stirred, Michael Daugherty’s tribute to British secret agent 007 James Bond; Ice Dance by Anders Åstrand for keyboard percussion ensemble with accordion; and a pop music influenced ode to rock drumming, Bonham by Christopher Rouse. The ensemble’s final concert of the season also marks the premiere of Union by graduating senior Zachary Jacobs.
This recital is open to the public to attend free of charge.
