Although the 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, concert by Ma has already sold out, several exciting musical events will herald the renowned artist's return to Greencastle, including DePauw Film Studies’ free screening of The Music of Strangers, the extraordinary award-winning film about the founding of Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble (Tues 9/26@7 p.m.), and the inaugural Launch Competition Winner's Concert by 9 Horses at Music on the Square (Thurs. 9/28@7:30 p.m.). Here’s the line up for this week’s festivities:

Cellist Eric Edberg will warm up the audience with a performance of Bach’s Prelude in G, as well as discuss the special relationship Yo-Yo Ma has with the DePauw and Greencastle community, before the screening of The Music of Strangers. Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville’s feature-length documentary tells the extraordinary story of the renowned international musical collective created by legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma, focusing on the journeys of a small group of Silk Road Ensemble mainstays. Through these moving individual narratives, the filmmakers paint a vivid portrait of a bold musical experiment and a global search for the ties that bind.
