Before attending DePauw, I imagined myself the director of a high school band program. Through my work in the School of Music, including the opportunity to intern Off-Broadway in New York City and co-found a middle school jazz band, I discovered that my true educational passion was to bring music to those that would otherwise never experience it.
The DePauw School of Music is a place that is home to a diverse group of faculty and students who have a variety of talents and interests. As a small, liberal arts university, we challenge students to acknowledge the skills, tools, and experiences necessary to be musicians of the future. Our 21st-Century Musician Initiative assists students in doing just that. At DePauw you will be able to push yourself intellectually and collaborate with others. We will give you the tools needed to discover who you are as a musician and how that translates into your future objectives.
While you have a myriad of options available when it comes to studying music, we believe DePauw offers the best approach. In order to be heard, we believe study in a small, nurturing setting is paramount. We believe an environment devoid of graduate students allows for rich opportunities for study, performance, and networking.
With an assortment of visit opportunities, we hope you will come to campus and see for yourself why the DePauw University School of Music is the perfect place to pursue your academic, professional, and personal goals. We look forward to hearing from you.
