About the Artist
One of the most relevant figures in jazz today, this 31-year-old New Orleans-born pianist began playing music at age seven. Since completing his master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music, under the tutelage of Jason Moran and Phil Markowitz, Fortner has studied and shared the stage with great artists such as The Marsalis Family, Donald Harrison, Nicholas Payton, Billy Hart, Gary Bartz, Marcus Belgrave, The Jordan Family, Irvin Mayfield, Peter Martin and Dave Liebman. No tickets needed to this free event at M2.
