About the Artist
One of the most relevant figures in jazz today, the 29-year-old American pianist SULLIVAN FORTNER was born in New Orleans and began playing music at age seven. Fortner has studied and shared the stage with great artists such as The Marsalis Family, Donald Harrison, Nicholas Payton, Billy Hart, Gary Bartz, Marcus Belgrave, The Jordan Family, Irvin Mayfield, Peter Martin and Dave Liebman. While touring with Stefon Harris & Blackout, Christian Scott Quintet and Roy Hargrove Quintet, he completed his master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Jason Moran and Phil Markowitz.
