Hailed by the Washington Post as “a savvy, sensitive composer with a keen ear . . . and a generous dash of pure esprit,” Jennifer Higdon received the 2010 Pulitzer Prize in Music for her Violin Concerto and a 2010 Grammy for her Percussion Concerto. Her opera Cold Mountain, based on the best-selling novel by Charles Frazier, won the International Opera Award for Best World Premiere. A major figure in contemporary Classical music, Higdon’s works are enjoyed by audiences at several hundred performances a year and on over sixty CDs. DePauw is honored to host Curtis Institute of Music’s Rock Chair in Composition as composer-in-residence this season.
